Clavariadelphus truncatus
Clavariadelphus truncatus is distinguished by a club-shaped fruiting body, with a flattened or squared top. It can usually be told from the other clubs by their larger size, stockier stature, and characteristic ocher to yellow-orange colour. This mushroom is one of my favorite edibles with a very pleasant odor and sweet taste. It is found in large groups or scattered in duff of coniferous forests across Alberta. In wet years you may find them very plentiful in large groups of 50 or more.
