Hygrophorus erubescens

There are two genera Hygrocybe and Hygrophorus that are commonly called "Waxy Caps". Most of the Hygrocybe are small to medium size that are usually brightly colored in red,yellow,orange or blue as in my last two posts of Hygrocybe conica and H. miniata. Hygrophorus sp. are usually small to large in size with subdued colors along with white to brown. There are at least 20 different species that occur in Alberta. H. erubescens are very common and large fruitings are not uncommon.
